Since its founding in 2019 by Victoria Chigozirim Onyeagbako, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thisdaylive.com\/index.php\/2024\/12\/13\/miplg-celebrates-5-years-of-impact-in-africa\/\" title=\"\">MIPLG has remained steadfast in its mission to support IP development and youth capacity building in Africa<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To commemorate this landmark anniversary, MIPLG partnered with the <em>Nigerian Intellectual Property Club (NIPC)<\/em> to organize the <em>IP for African Kids\/Teens Campaign<\/em>. This initiative reached 5 states in Nigeria\u2014Uyo, Ondo, Rivers, Edo, and Delta\u2014introducing children and teenagers to the importance of creativity and innovation while inspiring respect for intellectual creations. Speaking on this partnership, MIPLG&#8217;s Executive Director, Chukwuemezie Charles Emejuo, emphasized the organization\u2019s dedication to nurturing the next generation of African creators and innovators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Our Achievements Over the Past 5 Years<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Pioneering the &#8220;IP for Kids\/Youths Campaign&#8221;<\/strong><br>MIPLG launched Africa\u2019s first campaign to engage over 400 youth on creativity, innovation, and respect for intellectual property. In 2021, we published the <em>IP for Kids<\/em> book to introduce basic IP concepts to African children.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Supporting IP Clubs Across Nigeria<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Facilitated the creation of over 20 intellectual property clubs in tertiary institutions across Nigeria.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Spearheaded the establishment of the <em>Nigerian Intellectual Property Club (NIPC)<\/em>, which now serves as the national body for student IP clubs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Inspiring Through Debate and Scholarship<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Organized the <em>MIPLG International Debate Competition<\/em>, engaging over 1,000 students annually.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Awarded 40+ IP scholarships to deserving students, with support from the <em>World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Academy<\/em> and other partners.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Providing Mentorship and Development Opportunities<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Implemented the <em>Career Development and Mentorship Scheme (CDMS)<\/em>, connecting over 122 mentees with renowned mentors worldwide.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Delivered 31+ editions of the <em>Personal Development Series<\/em> to equip IP professionals and enthusiasts with essential skills and knowledge.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Creating Resources for the African IP Community<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Published a comprehensive <em>Compendium of African IP Laws<\/em>, available on our website for professionals, students, and enthusiasts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A Bright Future Ahead<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As we look forward to the future, MIPLG remains committed to expanding our projects and deepening our impact across Africa.
